about

When Yes Plant took the stage at Little Buildings for Northern Tape x Vaporama (Cyber-Tribe) on 2nd December 2023 they had no idea that they were about to record 'the worst live performance of all time'.

An exhilarating listen, the satirical pop outfit stumble their way through their set of complex electronic and noise pop bangers, while showcasing some unreleased tunes and a brand-new, improvised version of Telephone. Making you feel like a member of the group, the band’s awkward charm and knack for spur-of-the-moment twists sucks you into their musical labyrinth and creates an unforgettable listening experience.

At times overwhelming, and at times outright confusing, the group’s debut live performance is one for the history books. A fragment of a forgotten time, for historians to retrieve from the debris of our post-catastrophe world, a world healing from the apocalyptic nightmare.

Yes Plant are a satirical pop outfit from Sunderland, UK. Often described as alternative electronica, the group’s sound ranges dance-inspired bangers to fuzzy noise pop anthems. Founded in 2019 by Matthew Jameson (This Side Down, NOT THIS) and Adam Tyson, the duo would release Getting Away With It. Accompanied by Tired Trace (12D: BRINK OF NEARLY FULL, 14A: HAUNTED BY THE NIGHT), they would release their debut album Coming Back To It in 2020.

Jokingly stating that they would then go on a 10-year hiatus following the project’s completion, the band’s only non-remix song to be released following their debut is 2021’s Father. Matthew Jameson and Tired Trace have worked on individual projects since, while intermittently working on Yes Plant’s second album.

Yes Plant’s performance at Little Buildings on the 2nd December 2023 would establish Alana Wan as a full time member of the outfit and marks the return of one of the North East’s most mind-boggling acts.

Massive thank you to Steven Chell and co. for organising the all-day event of Northern Tape x Vaporama (Cyber-Tribe), it was a brilliant time and we thoroughly enjoyed it as a group.

about

Yes Plant Sunderland, UK

Originally formed for a poorly written, badly choreographed nostalgia flick, Yes Plant is the quintessential pop act for the third decade of the twentieth century. Re-imagined in full Technicolor, Yes Plant are here to take you on a wild ride. Sit tight and strap up, because you may never feel the same after this one.

Formed 2019.
